I have been remembering this week.an earlier time in my life when even though I loved my work, I had a familiar pattern of Monday-itus as Sunday evening approached. I know now that back then I had no idea how to manage stress.Silly really-I was in my chosen profession, nobody was forcing me to continue my profession, or to work at such a depleting pace in a frontline position. I was passionate, committed, and ambitious for the future. You may already know or be familiar with a version my story from this point- brutal burnout, some wilderness years, and eventually coming home to calm.
The younger me was very unaware, clueless, not even noticing that this often weekly creeping Monday-itus feeling was my nervous system needing to be soothed and calmed. I am quietly celebrating this week the evolution of my work in helping others to know how to manage stress and more know about, and to connect more easily with the wonderful calming and nourishing para sympathetic nervous system with my new programme Blossom.
Blossom is a simple, beautiful process to support women to move away from burnout and instead to blossom in all areas of their lives. You can check it out here:

Where Attention Goes-Energy Flows.
Every morning when we wake up we can choose the direction our day will take – where attention goes, energy flows. Taking this pause before the day begins is the key to learning how to manage stress. For years I told myself that ‘when I have time I will be intentional and look after myself in this deep way…..but right now I am too busy”. Now I know that I will never be ‘not busy‘, the time will never be right, I will never start my day with thirty minutes of nothingness just waiting to be used for self-care and connection with my own inner calm. But I also know I can create this space simply by getting up thirty minutes earlier, and this simple habit has literally changed my life.
In those early years when I struggled to find my balance, my own inner calm these two practises were a great help. Maybe if you know what I mean by Monday -itus these might support you too.
Journaling – Morning practise before you do anything else spend ten minutes journaling using these prompts:
1) How do I want to feel today?
2) Who do I want to be today?
3) What do I want to receive today?
4) What do I want to give today?
